Modern Conservation

Singita Grumeti Reserves

A Sustainable Model

Singita Grumeti Reserves is a remarkable success story.  It has delivered on its promises: to restore wildlife populations in East Africa, preserve the renowned wildebeest migration, and become an efficiently managed and protected reserve in the Serengeti.  Some of its successes to date include increasing game population numbers by up to 600%, the development of an Environmental Education Centre for youth, and specific conservation projects like the sponsored reintroduction of 5 of a planned 32 endemic black rhino.

Singita Kruger National Park

Touching the Earth Lightly

Singita Lebombo and Sweni Lodges were built around the promise to 'Touch the Earth Lightly'.  This ethos is manifested by the way the lodges were constructed, are operated and manned, and the way the guests experience the wildlife and the natural habitat.  The company's impact on the land is regularly monitored internally and externally by the Kruger National Park and it strives for continuous improvement in the field.

Singita Sabi Sands

Environmental Management

Dave Wright has been the Environmental Manager for Singita Sabi Sand for the past thirty years.  Together with a long-serving, dedicated Singita environmental team, Dave has taken the lead in ensuring that the land, with its fauna and flora, resembles as closely as possible, the state it was found in some eight-five years prior to when it first came under the care of the Bailes family.  The earliest aerial photographs, taken in 1935, were used as a guide in this process.

Singita Pamushana

Empowering Communities

Singita Pamushana operates on a unique basis in that the Lodge was established for the sole purpose of generating income to assist in funding the conservation and community outreach programmes co-ordinated by the Malilangwe Trust.  Through this confident venture Singita stands poised to make a major contribution to the goal of rehabilitating Zimbabwe's wildlife and tourism industries.
